Welcome to TLC’s Class Information and Class Sign-ups Page. We are transitioning into a new location in Alton for 2025-2026. We are asking our Current Families to please submit their registration forms by 8/8/2025. New Families please sign up on our TLC Waitlist for 2025-2026, Class Sign Ups for Current Families will be on 8/28/25. After current families sign up we will contact each family on the waitlist and let them know if we have room for their family, and if so when to sign up.

Description: An intermediate cooking class for teens that will go beyond the basics. We’ll have a friendly cooking competition to spice things up as we try recipes from around the world. We’ll have fun trying foods from China, India, Japan, Thailand, Mexico, Italy, America, and Holiday foods just to name a few.

Expectations: Students will be expected to be safe and respectful as they will be in a kitchen with knives and fire

Description: Hand Lettering is a hands on course that introduces students to the art of hand lettering, blending artistic expression with design principles. The class will explore a variety of lettering styles-block, script, brush, and decorative fonts-while learning techniques on layout, spacing, line weight, and embellishment. We will cover proper tool use, composition, planning, and integrating of hand lettering into personal projects such as posters, greeting cards, logos, and journal pages.

Expectations: Come prepared to learn a great skill. There will be homework here and there, to practice lettering and work on projects.

Course Description: Now that your children are out of preschool, we are ready to take on some more challenging skills! In K-1 Gym Class, we will have lots of fun moving with very active games, but will also focus on further developing gross motor skills, stretching, simple group sports, teamwork, and character building.

Expectations: Please be sure the children have gone potty before class, have water and sneakers, and are prepared to run and play. They will be expected to listen and look up when the teacher or assistant is talking, participate in all activities, follow rules/directions, and have good sportsmanship (although we aim to grow in that area during class, too).

Course Description: Every class we will go learn about one or two national parks. I don’t think we’ll be able to talk about all of them, but I will try to get through at least half if not more. We will learn about them through games, videos, reading, drawing and discussion. We will learn the geography, the animals and the history.

Expectations: They need to be able to sit attentively and take part in discussion. They should look forward to playing games, coloring in pictures memorizing facts. There will be no homework. I think I will be sending home a packet of information on each park that they can keep in a folder and we can refer back to if necessary.

Course Description: “Moose on the Loose” is a social studies curriculum for the State of New Hampshire. Created by the New Hampshire Historical Society, it explores the Granite State’s history, economics, geography, and civic life, introducing students to the state’s rich cultural heritage. The site was designed for kids in the upper elementary grades (Grades 3-6), but much of the material is adaptable for students inother grades. “Moose on the Loose” provides many ways for kids to connect what they learn about the past to current, statewide issues. It also provides a foundation for lifelong learning about New Hampshire, America, and the democratic traditions that unite us all. So dive in and find out more about the state we all love!

Course Description: We will be using Apologia, exploring creation with health and nutrition. The class will be a holistic approach to health covering genetics and temperament, body systems, senses, exercise, and nutrition… the last chapter in the book covers the reproductive system. That we will leave for parents to cover as they wish, but know it is in the book if you order it.

Expectations: We will have an interactive class each week with homework in between to help students gain at least 0.5 health credit required in NH for HS. It will be up to parents to decide how much credit and how much they require their student to accomplish. Please provide a folder or binder for your student to keep all their work so you will have it at the end of the year. If you want your student to gain the credit please order the textbook and workbook to be able to complete work at home during the week. If just using for participation/filler your student can attend and some copies can be made of workbook pages. Should expect 2 or 3 hours of homework each week including an activity/exercise log for physical education.

Description: Time Travelers for grades 2-4 blends history, geography, art and hands on activities. We would visit different eras over the course of the year (Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Colonial America, American Revolution, Westward Expansion, Civil War, 1920s-1980s. Keeping a passport along the way for each time period we visit.

Curriculum: I would be writing my own lesson plans, no formal curriculum

Expectations: Students would be expected to be able to sit and listen during lesson time and participate during class.

Expectations: Music Skills II involves some practicing, playing along with music links online, or an MP3 shared. Mrs. Holmes believes practicing an instrument solo, for an adult is boring and even more so for a kid. Kids are expected to never irritate other family members by playing at the wrong time or place, such as in the car or in a siblings ear!.

Description: Using The Fallacy Detective book students will be able to know how to spot bad reasoning, put a higher value on good reasoning, and know how to avoid fallacies in your own reasoning. Price for the course reflects the purchase of the book.

Expectations: It is expected that students come prepared to use critical thinking. Class participation will help make this successful and fun, working individually, in pairs, and groups. There will be homework to complete some lessons on their own (less than 30 minutes) in order to be able to play the game on the last day. The book states for ages 12+.

Description: Our goal is to understand the connection between music and how notes on a staff speak. I’ve broken those skills down into individual areas such as listening to pitch, duration, rhythm and direction. By breaking these skills into “baby steps” with games, I accomplish one of my 1st missions in teaching….. Make learning fun. And then as always, the enjoyment of singing together will be putting the pedal to the metal. I would look for opportunities to have the kids sing/perform for all the parents/staff/other kids when we’ve got something to share.

Description: Grounded in the truth of 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, this class teaches that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit—designed with purpose, care, and love by our Creator.Each week we will take a closer look at a different system or part of the body—like the heart, muscles, lungs, brain, and bones—and discover how they each reveal God’s intentional design. Through hands-on learning, age-appropriate dissections (like a sheep heart or cow eyeball), models, memoizing scripture, experiments, and creative activities, children will explore how their bodies work and why we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).

Ecxpectations: Behavior: Respectful conduct, active listening & following instructions; Class participation: participation in discussions is expected, but reading aloud would be voluntary.
